Show Me the “Green” Money

Complaints fill the air from city to city regarding the recession and the lack of GOOD paying jobs in our local communities. However, GREEN jobs are gaining more popularity as they aim to SAVE companies money and our environment at the same time. Let’s face it our country needs to tackle two major challenges right now; recovering from an economic crisis and preventing our environment fromCOLLAPSING on us. I am calling for a  NEW DEAL of the cards with Green Jobs being the ace in the whole for workers all over our great nation. A Green collar employee is a conscious person making and effort of supporting their lifestyle and a behavior of saving our precious earth.

With a range of career’s offered in the green job industry, the availability of these particular jobs will cross all types of industries and skill levels. These jobs can range from Solar workers; Wind Turbine installers; Smart Grid Installers; Green Chemist and a host of other professions(see Sustainable Jobs). Most employers are beginning to look to sustainability for growth of their companies and assets for the 21st Century. There are several ways to get on this green track and that is the recognition that EDUCATION and TRAINING are needed and needed faster than ever for a full eco-nomic recovery!

In part of the 2007 energy bill, the Green Jobs Act was an innovative proposal to make training for green employment opportunities in the clean energy sector available across the country, with Illinois having a WHOOPING $425 million. My question is: What is the hold up? The potential for this education and training can be huge for dislocated workers; unemployed; underemployed and college graduates NOW.

With President Obama energy plan of $150 Billion over the next ten years can establish a robust energy sector, while creating up to 5 million jobs with growth in various sectors of the economy.

So my question is: HOW WILL YOU PREPARE FOR THE ECO-EVOLUTION COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU?

Be GOOD to One Another!

I strongly agree with you! The only problem is, when I tried finding training in this field I encountered a lot of dead ends and it was really upsetting. Yes I could’ve traveled to Colorado or California, but I have certain obligations in my life that can’t permit it. I need something local. I’m still, VERY interested in finding solutions mainly because I know it will be one of many factors of the future in saving our planet. So if you could pleassssse,, HELP!!

Really enjoyed the show yesterday, I especially like the part where you talked about doing business on the “continent” of Africa. I think it is well past time that we begin to realistically join the world in looking to Africa as an alternative business partner. I think if we invest our business dollars there, it can be a win-win situation for many of us. I know…solar energy… is the way to go. please let me know more about solar energy projects. I intend to relocate to West Africa in the near future and I am very interested in sustainable energy sources.

Maine’s highest court says the state Public Utilities Commission failed to resolve health and safety concerns when it signed off on Central Maine Power’s plan to replace its analog meters with new, high-tech digital devices called smart meters. Opponents of smart meters say research shows that the radio waves emitted by the devices can cause cancer and other health problems……YIKES
